Beyond-the-basic productivity tools, also known as BBPTs, are similar but more advanced than regular basic productivity tools. They include extra features and advanced options that allow the user to create completely original study tools. BBPTs are great because they allow for interactivity and sharing, and some are even simple enough to operate that they apply to younger generations.
Two types of BBPT software are Timeliner and Inspirartion. Timeliner helps students organize facts and data into a timeline, sequence, or cycle and present it in a multimedia presentation. Inspiration is a software used to create visual maps, outlines, and presentations. These tools are beneficial to children because instead of simply providing them with the information, the have to research and sort through relevant data on their own. Bloom’s levels of remembering, understanding, applying, and creating, as well as the LoTi levels are improved increased with these types of software because they require students to research, apply what they have learned, and create a study tool useful to them.

Inspiration is a BBPT that allows students to create graphic organizers and pre-made templates to organize their thoughts in a unique, memorable, and interactive way.
The sample provided below is a flow chart I would present to the class while talking about fossils or introducing this software. Students could use this as a study tool, and would also have the opportunity to make a flow chart themselves.
