Student Response and Assessment Tools
Student response and assessment tools are devices and programs that teachers can use in the classroom to check student understanding or as a formative assessment so that the teacher can tailor the lesson to the students in the classroom. There are numerous types of student response technologies. They consist of web-based programs or handheld devices, often known as clickers, that connect to a specific software program. These technology tools can have various features, and can be in multiple choice, fill-in the blank, short answer, or even long answer format. Student response and assessment tools are very useful in keeping the kids engaged, and even involving typically shy students into class discussion. The drawback to student response and assessment tools are the high price and classroom availability. Purchasing programs that require specific devices can be expensive, and in cases where you can use personal devices some students may not have access to a personal technology device.
Some popular examples of student response and assessment tools include: Kahoot, Nearpod, Plickers, IRespond, Active Expressions, Socrative, and Poll Everywhere. These can be used as a homework collection tool, formative assessment, discussion tool, and warm up tool. I look forward to using these SRS in my classroom because they are an interactive and increase the student's level of critical thinking. Using student response systems can also increase the LoTi levels, depending on the design of a lesson.

I chose to do a sample lesson using Kahoot. I think is a great asset to have in the classroom. It allows the teacher to create a quiz over any subject matter and use it as a single player or team game. Students can use mobile devices and iPads as their "clickers", and just simply have to enter a code to participate in that particular lesson. Below I have attached a link to a quiz I created over states and capitals using Kahoot. Check it out!
