iNSTRUCTIONAL SOFTWARE
Instructional software is loosely defined as computer programs designed to deliver instruction or to assist in the delivery of instruction on a specific topic. Examples of instructional software include Drill and Practice, Tutorial, Simulation, Instructional Games, and Problem Solving. It is different from productivity software, which is something like spreadsheets or word processors, in the fact that instructional software's sole purpose is to support instruction and learning.Instructional software can even support student acquisition of required learning standards in content areas, the ISTE-S, Bloom’s levels of critical thinking, and LoTi Level 3 though frequent assessment, support for differentiation, student engagement, and accessibility for students. There are many emerging trends when it comes to instructional software. These trends include: multi-user gaming, students creating games, enhanced assessment, and monitoring and reporting components. Constructivism software allows to step away from their traditional role as the teacher to participate as an active creator and collaborative learner in the classroom. Access to instructional software is fairly easy because it is found on the computers at school, some are web-based, and even accessible on mobile devices.
